Tic Tac Snow Game

Here is the second of my Christmas Tin Games. I just love the way these turned out. They would make perfect stocking stuffers -- or games to keep the kids busy in the car on the way to Grandma's house.

I had been thinking of making a Tic Tac Toe game like this for awhile, but wasn't sure what to use...X & O's, bugs, flowers & stars. As I was working on my Match Game, I thought of the Little Felt Flurries (Item #113697, $13.95) in the Holiday Mini Catalog. The smallest ones were the perfect size. I used the Tombow Multi adhesive to glue them to 1-1/4" white punched circles and then layered on the coordinating color cardstock. There are little magnets on the back of each snowflake so they can be stored on the left side and then used on the gameboard on the right.

The skinny silver tin is also from Stampin' Up! (Item #108333, $1.95).

Supplies: Short Order Alphabet, Taffy Alphabet, Little Felt Flurries, Ski Slope DSP, Real Red ink & cardstock, Baja Breeze ink & cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Baja Breeze striped ribbon, white grosgrain ribbon, 1-1/4" & 1-3/8" Circle Punches, Tombow Multi Adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals, magnets, skinny silver tin

Christmas Tin Game

I have been working on this project for months. Literally! I made all the pieces of this game back in August, but never finished the "packaging" of it. When I saw Brooke & Sankari's latest Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge which features Miracle on 34th Street, I knew I had to finish this up and get it posted. It was a true miracle! ha ha! (Did I mention they are giving away blog candy this week? All you have to do is post a project for their challenge!)

So, here's the story behind my project: Christmas is my very most favorite holiday. It is filled with lots of little traditions in my family and my siblings and I cherish each one of them. One of those when we were younger was that we weren't allowed out of our rooms Christmas morning until the appointed (by Mom and Dad) time. Of course, we could hardly sleep, wondering and waiting to see what Santa had brought for us. So, we would stockpile games in our room on Christmas Eve to keep ourselves entertained until the magic hour.

Without further adieu, here is my Christmas Tin Game:

These skinny silver tins are available from Stampin' Up! for $1.95 each (Item #108333). (Sorry about the glare on the tins in the photos.)

I was inspired by the Monster Match game I saw on SCS last year. As soon as I saw the sneak peek of the Deer Friends hostess set this summer, I knew that I had to make a Christmas version of this "Memory" game.

And, I was so inspired by the memory of our Christmas morning game time that I created another Christmas Tin Game. Watch for pictures tomorrow!

Sympathy Cards

I made some sympathy cards over the weekend. I used the same stamped image and DSP on all of them, but ended up making two variations with different folds/cuts.

For this first one, I simply cut 1-1/4" off the bottom of the card front and adhered the DSP to the inside of the card. On the next one, instead of cutting off part of the card, I folded the card front back lengthwise. You can see it better in the second photo, which shows the open card.

Supplies: Heartfelt Thanks, sympathy greetings (retired SU stamps), Parisian Summer DSP, Sahara Sand cardstock, Very Vanilla cardstock, Pink Pirouette ink, Mellow Moss Marker, Bravo Burgundy marker/ink & cardstock, Always Artichoke marker, Stamp-a-ma-jig

First Snow

We woke up this morning to find snow on the ground...and covering all the trees and houses and streets. I love the way the trees look with fresh fallen snow that hasn't blown off the branches yet. It reminded me of this card.

It's hard to see in the photo, but I used 2-way glue and Dazzling Diamonds to add a dusting of "snow" to the branches of these trees.

Supplies: Lovely As a Tree, Many Merry Messages, Bravo Burgundy ink & cardstock, Sahara Sand ink & cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, 2-way Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter

A Little Birdie Told Me...

I'm catching up on birthday cards today. Why is it I'm always "catching up"? Sigh. One of these days I'll be ahead of the game...I hope! Anyway, here's a new card using Stacey's Jewelry Color Challenge colors: Brilliant Blue, Rose Red, Taken with Teal, and Kiwi Kiss.

This was a fun color combination...the blues reminded me of the Little Birdie set, so I dug it out of my cabinet and dusted it off. I watercolored with an ink pad lid and blender pen. (Push down on the cover of the ink pad to pool ink in the lid. Then pick it up with the blender and watercolor!)

Supplies: A Little Birdie Told Me, Taken with Teal ink & cardstock, Kiwi Kiss ink & cardstock, Rose Red ink & cardstock, Brilliant Blue cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Blender Pen, Scallop Edge Punch
